I have benefited greatly from the professional assistance of Dr. Fentress with respect to all aspects of my health goals.

*This is an exciting time to be in health coaching.  I thought I would share a brief exchange between a lovely woman who is involved in health coaching from a perspective that complements ETHOLIFE.  It also includes the wonderful lady who helped me set up my website.  I have changed names to honor privacy.  The exception is LUPEY, the timber wolf I had so many wonderful years working with.

Hi T,

Life
is sometimes unexpectedly kind.  I
was with K R who is helping me with my ETHOLIFE HEALTH COACHING site when I saw
your site on her computer.  Our
interests, while different in detail, are remarkably similar in overall
mission.  This is a brief note of
admiration, and an invitation to share thoughts, etc.  The easiest initial way to do this is via email.

My own
background is diverse, with a combined interest in the humanities and
science.  I had the good fortune to
meet with Carl Jung and became a friend with the poet Robert Frost among
others.  As a graduate student at
Cambridge University (UK) I studied ETHOLOGY, the broadly defined bio-social
bases of adaptive behavior.  The
topic of "instinct" is a basic foundation.   I was, and remain, fascinated by ethological models of
instinct and Jung's ideas on human archetypes.

It was
a kick, including working with a remarkable wolf, Lupey.  Following that I went into brain
science, and taught at universities both in the states and Canada.  Upon retiring I decided to bring my
background into a more strictly applied realm, thus ETHOLIFE, based upon the
Greek root "ethos", which means foundations, core being, basic
character, etc.  I meet with
individuals and groups, with a particular interest in stress, its recognition
(cf your frog story), and how the brain / mind can get restructured in positive
ways.  I also sell nutritional
products on the side.

This
is a long introductory note.  I do
hope we communicate and share with each other.  I have some initial thoughts how we might collaborate down
the road.

A
great site and program you have developed, Tammi.  Congratulations!

Warm
regards,

John C. Fentress, PhD

Morning, John!

 You must have
gotten the math question right! It was such a pleasure to receive your email!
I'm thrilled for you to be working with KR - she is a gem! She has been
indispensable to me over the last year, as I have built and honed the site. She
continues to be flexible, artistic, creative and a great source of knowledge.
Whenever she doesn’t know the answer, she looks it up or finds it through her
hubby J!! (: She is always pleasant and accommodating. She has been great to
work with!
Your experiences, the people you have interacted with, are incredible and
immense, John! How pleased I am to have made your acquaintance, thanks to you!
I particularly am interested in the experience with Lupey!!
I do see what you mean about our similar interests and passions! So cool to
have met you, and yes, I welcome the sharing of ideas and resources and
whatever else! I love connections, so thanks for making this one! (:
Have a great day, John!

T,
Its lovely to hear from you.  Yes indeed, I am fortunate to know KR and J,
two of the most lovely people I have ever met.  Due to limited budget and
floating ideas re. details I asked Karen to make me a "basic" (but
attractive) web site.  Your site has given me ideas for how I might expand
in the future.  I hope you don't mind (actually know you won't mind) I
will forward this chat between us to Karen.  She is a gem.

On the academic side the term "instinct" has gone through lots of
revisions, especially revisions that include the role of early (even prenatal!)
experiences in setting the core stage for our lives.  That's side
one.  On the other side are recent and exciting advances in brain
plasticity, giving individuals reason to hope and succeed in changing their
life paths.  That is where your work is obviously especially
important:  building from the core.

I would love to tell you about Lupey and the other wolves sometime.  He
was one of the true joys of my life.  We lived together on a farm in
England, traveled together on the Queen Elizabeth to NY, drove together to
Rochester, NY, stayed together at a dog kennel (!), drove in my Land Rover to
Eugene, OR, and took his last trip to Nova Scotia.  I really must get that
book done, to honor him if nothing else.  Fortunately I kept detailed
journals, and smile as I read through them.  For me wildlife, and nature
more generally, is inspirational.  That, my friend, is my
"core".

I want ETHOLIFE to work from that core.  I seek to help people, as you do,
find their inner selves, what they wish to work on, and support in aiding them
to do this.  Where I have not done the job I should is getting publicity
for the program out there, but I have had some wonderful clients.  My
favorites are two married folks in their 90's who initially came to me to
discuss a divorce!  After 45 minutes they left holding hands.  Now
that is neat!

I thank you again for writing, and look forward to our future contacts.

Warmest wishes in our celebration of life.

John
