The boundaries we often construct semantically between our minds and our bodies can be a conversational convenience, but underneath - the distinctions we make between mind and body are artificial.  In an essential sense mind and body are two interlocked sides of the same coin:  Human life.

This simple fact is critical to our health.  When our minds become distressed the body follows in distress.  We all know this.  Our stomachs churn under mental stress, our brains (minds) jam into ruts that block effective action, and a myriad of physiological ramifications follow.  Some of these ramifications are not that well known to the public.  For example, did you know that chronic stress can actually kill brain cells?  Well, it can - and does.  That is not healthy.

A negative loop follows.  The damaged brain jams and adaptive flexibility in action is lost.  This accentuates the stress and adds further to bodily disorders.  We become ill.  When we become ill there is then feedback to the brain which is incapable of working with adaptive flexibility.  The loop between brain / mind / body can and often does spin out of control. Boundaries between mind and body are crossed; they become one.

So when people say our minds and bodies are linked they are right.  It becomes a truism that if we can get our minds working in a happy or contented space our physical health improves.  This improvement then loops back to the mind / brain which in turn operates in a better space.  And so on.

ETHOLIFE HEALTH COACHING explores these reciprocal connections between mind and body as an approach to well-being.  Ethos means roots and foundations.  Our minds and our bodies are partners at their core.  

It is easy to talk loosely about such things, which at best is a starting point.  Modern scientific research on brain and behavior links is critical to add substance to what can otherwise degenerate into nothing more than loose, even unrealistic, conversation.  ETHOLIFE HEALTH COACHING is unique in that it examines and shares critical scientific roots of mind / body links.  It also does this within the context of broad humanistic guidelines.

The bottom line is that we must be careful about the distinctions we make, and also be careful not to allow loose arguments substitute for factual data that the natural sciences are bringing into the foreground.  Join in the ETHOLIFE mission and gain a happy mind, and a healthy body.  Anyone can do this, but often a qualified coach is critical.
